Col. Warren Anderson, Vietnam Veteran
COL Warren Anderson was born in Jackson Michigan in 1932. The family soon moved to Hillsdale County. Warren grew up on a farm in Camden and was a 1951 graduate of Reading High School. He went to Michigan State University but left to join the Air Force. He loved flying and believed in his mission. He married Derry Rutz in April of 1956. They enjoyed being stationed at Tyndall AFB Florida, Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan and Alconbury RAF in England. Warren was assigned to Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter SC when he was sent to Vietnam in October of 1965.
Just after his 10 year wedding anniversary, Capt Warren Anderson’s RF4C was shot down in North Vietnam. His Date of Loss is 26 April 1966. His status was changed to KIA/BNR (Killed in Action/Body Not Recovered) in January of 1979. He is still unaccounted for, along with his copilot MAJ James Tucker. They are not forgotten and their legacies live on through their families.
Warren left behind his wife, Derry, and four children: Natalie, Shari, Jed and Gregg. There are now nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Please remember COL Warren Leroy Anderson and his sacrifice for our country.
If anyone reading this knew my father it would be an honor to be in touch with you.
His daughter,
