Scat Davis
Johnnie "Scat" Davis was best known for introducing the Johnny Mercer song "Hurray for Hollywood." He was a featured performer and vocalist with the Fred Waring Orchestra in the 1930s. When not performing in films and in Las Vegas he was at home on Broad Street in Hillsdale.
His wife, "I.E."the former Martha Garver was active in local Camp Fire, while his father-in-law, Ross Garver, ran the Dawn Theatre. Their three daughters attended Hillsdale schools. Daughter Susan was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in 1965.
